How to make a Loop
Here is a very useful tutorial that shows us step by step how to create a loop with magnetic tape using an audio cassette.
We really need very few tools to unleash our creativity.
This diagram graphically shows us some types of loops that can be achieved with audio cassettes, along with their respective durations.
To calculate the time duration of a magnetic tape loop based on its length, you need to know both the length of the tape and the tape's running speed. The general formula is:
Time Duration =Tape Length / Tape Speed
Here's a step-by-step guide:
Determine the Tape Length (L): The length of the tape is usually measured in meters (m) or feet (ft).
Determine the Tape Speed (v): The tape speed is usually measured in centimeters per second (cm/s) or inches per second (ips). Common tape speeds are 4.75 cm/s, 9.5 cm/s, 19 cm/s, and 38 cm/s (equivalent to 1⅞ ips, 3¾ ips, 7½ ips, and 15 ips, respectively).
Convert Units if Necessary: Ensure that the tape length and tape speed are in compatible units to get the correct time duration.
Calculate the Time Duration: Divide the tape length by the tape speed.
